Faraday mirrors and rotators
August 19, 2020

Faraday mirrors and rotators are passive optical devices used to rotate in a controlled way the polarization plane of the incident light. To do so, they utilize the magneto-optic effect. Most often encountered applications call for 45 deg rotation for transmissive rotators and 90 deg rotation for reflective mirrors. The Faraday mirrors are frequently used in systems and devices which require polarization- and/or directional isolation, like tunable lasers, optical amplifiers, interferometers or in various sensing schemes. Fibrain FRM mirrors offer low losses, broad spectral working range and good temperature stability. They are available for different spectral bands, including non-standard wavelengths.
